Work in Ballina
Industry and Enterprise to inspire you …
In Ballina, innovative, home-grown SMEs work side by side with major multinationals in a burgeoning commercial environment. Home to hundreds of businesses, some of the high-profile companies from around the world who chose to base themselves here include Coca-Cola (Ballina Beverages), Hollister, Lionbridge Technologies and the Charles River Laboratories. In nearby Killala, Renewable Power Mayo is under construction. When complete, the plant will be Ireland’s largest independent biomass power plant. Connacht Whiskey has just built a new distillery in the town.
The Local Enterprise Office Mayo, based in Castlebar, has an outreach clinic in the heart of Ballina offering support, advice and financial assistance to new SMEs. Moy Valley Resources IRD provides enterprise support as well as start-up spaces, incubation units and hot desking facilities. Bank of Ireland is planning an enterprise hub right in the centre of town. There’s a strong start-up network, and a friendly culture of helpfulness, openness and a willingness to share information.
