Ballina goes Mad this March

Easter comes early this year and with this in mind Ballina’s St Patricks Day Parade and Easter festival, combined and named ‘March Madness’ kicks off Thursday 17th March with St Patrick’s Day Parade commencing at 4pm in downtown Ballina.

Fingers crossed the weather stays good, as this year’s parade promises to host the biggest participants yet; featuring a variety of community groups, Ballina businesses and floats, glamourous tractors and Ballina’s sporting heroes. Ballina Salmon Festival’s Lady of the Moy leads the parade and adds a touch of glamour to the carnival atmosphere.

With many Primary and Secondary schools participating in Irelands National Proclamation Day on Tuesday 15th March, did you know the Jackie Clarke Collection houses an original 1916 Proclamation? The Jackie Clarke Collection has the only 1916 Proclamation on public view in County Mayo! Be sure to call in and learn some interesting facts about the Proclamation in this Centenary year.

Saturday 19th March, The Lucky Leprechaun Treasure Hunt kicks off in the Jackie Clarke Collection at 2pm promising plenty of family fun and prizes including entertainment from Maria Ruane and the Ballycastle School of Music, free admission.
